Hello Strangers!

Husk Restaurant - Deviled egg and pickled sausage - From Sean Brock's Twitter page

I have been neglecting the big blog for a while now, Tumblr just makes it too easy to be lazy.  I am recommitting to posting on a regular basis.  I would like to do at least one post a weekend, with spontaneous weekday posts.

General notes on stuff
Since last we spoke I went on a farm tour for the job.  It was very neat…and you come away with a new respect for what it takes to live the life of a dairy farmer.  While we were there, we saw a calf birth, that was really, really cool.

I have a new TV obsession — Steven Rinella and The Wild Within.  Check it out when you can.  If you like hunting or the outdoors, it will be worth your while.

We have spent the last couple of weeks dealing with a sick little girl.  She is scheduled for ear tube surgery on Wednesday.  I am a little nervous just because there is anesthesia involved.  Everyone that we have spoken to says that she should be much more healthy once the surgery is done.

I have been going to Trout Unlimited monthly meetings.  They are a lot of fun.  Trying to get more involved and make some fishing friends.

My brother has taken up blogging.  In case you are curious, that is not Ipsom Lorem text.  It is actually some gay slogan he got tattooed on his girl parts.

Sports Car Racing
Even with the news that live ALMS races are leaving SPEED Channel, John Dagys continues to do a fantastic job covering the world of sportscars.
Among his news and notes this week:

  • Colin Braun joins Robertson Racing in a Ford GT
  • Lord Drayson is leaving the ALMS
  • Sebring and Atlanta will be the only places stateside to see a lion run against the four rings

The Rolex 24 at Daytona was a close race for the last 30 laps…and a snoozefest for the rest of the race.  It is just not as fun to watch over the 24 hours as the race at LeMans.

NASCAR
Kevin Harvick had a tough start to the season at the Daytona 500.  New car is very sharp, though…I think they hit their stride and win more than a couple of races this season.

That is one gorgeous fish!

I am also going to add Matt Smythe (the FishingPoet) to the sidebar.  He has some really great content…so check him out!

P.S.  Matt is also a finalist for the Fiberglass Manifesto Spotting Contest – go throw him a vote!
He posted this pic to his Facebook page the other day.

What a great looking bass.
