The Grantland column said that the SEC Championship was a chance for the (paraphrasing here) University of Georgia to change the narrative…and reframe what many people say about the Dawgs (pretenders, perennial bridesmaids, can’t get it done). I think at the end of four quarters the Bulldogs proved that they did indeed deserve to be on the stage with the Crimson Tide.
Now, shore up that running D. Stop giving up those big yards off tackle. Replace some key losses and get back to the game again. Important to note here that just playing close in the SEC Championship game is a big improvement over some of their past efforts. You did yourself proud on a national stage.
Looking forward to seeing you next year in the real Death Valley. If not before then in Atlanta.
I have been hoarding links to share for a post for a while now. I just have not had a lot of spare time for posting. The news of Toyota to Le Mans has made this a racing-heavy post. But there is also stuff for everyone.
Looks like we are headed for some nice storms harmless thunder this afternoon and evening. Not like we can’t use the rain, but we can do without the severe stuff.
We will be Headed up to the mountains on Monday. We get to go back to Osage Farms in Dillard to get our pumpkin. I hear that the leaves are putting on quite a show and are near peak color in the upper elevations. We are not going all the way up, but we should still get a nice view. Reports say that the leaves are outstanding up near Highlands, so that should be worth a look.
Panthers versus Falcons this weekend. This game seems to mean a lot more to Atlanta. I am hoping that Cam and the Panthers can get a W.
Did you know Wendy’s has changed their burger recipe? If they are trying to compete with Five Guys, they are losing.
Chomping at the bit for a long holiday weekend. Nice Timing…badly needed. Good things happening around me right now, lets hope the momentum continues. I got certified in CPR this week. I am glad I did it. I think it might be a great idea for any parent.
We had dinner tonight at the highly touted (by some folks I trusted) Yeah! Burger in Atlanta. Not sure if we caught it on an off night or what…but it was less than stellar.
This Planet LeMans article made me realize that despite the continued tough times for sports car racing in the U.S., for the first time in a long time there is an International Sports Car Championship. It even has a leg that I will be attending.
Jalopnik took Danica to task Friday. They missed the mark a bit (one glaring error referred to a “track bar” as a “truck bar”), and were pretty vicious. That being said, the part about her not trying to learn car setups…dead on.
This guy is catching trout…by hand!
